I had my first blogger meet-up with Maddie from Caramel and Salt at Independent Baking Co. in Athens this past week. I had such a great time catching up with Maddie as we discussed all of our future blog plans and attempted to study for our finals a bit. I'm so looking forward to all of our adventures in Athens and around Georgia!
As soon as you walk into the bakery, the smell of fresh bread permeates the small, but quaint, location. I felt almost as though I was walking into a hug as we were invited into the store and encouraged to peruse all of the delicious baked goods.
I felt like I was at one of the bakeries that you see in movies: bread makers rolling dough, a light powdery dusting of flour atop the counters, smiling workers asking us if we knew what we'd like.
Of course, since I am completely indecisive, it took me a few minutes to decide what I wanted. I mean...look at these cookies and morning rolls.
Now THAT is the way to start a day. I ended up choosing a simple croissant. And boy, was it fantastic!
Maddie chose a Pain Au Chocolat, which is definitely on my I'm-getting-that-next-time list. I hear that sometimes they bake fresh danishes and cream cheese pastries. Those are on my list as well. And I know I will be returning soon.
The bakery also has an assortment of breads and baguettes you can take home. I grabbed a raisin-walnut roll and an epi baguette to-go. I can not wait to return to Independent Baking Co. at 5 Points in Athens. It's location is so convenient and I now find myself dreaming about their fresh-baked goods all of the time. You definitely must try it if you are in the Athens, Georgia area!
