CranApple Dos-i-do's


No, these are not dos-i-do's as in the Girl Scout cookies. These are dos-i-do's as in "Hey! It's fall! And these are so delicious that I must dos-i-do on over and grab another one!" 

They are similar to a danish, but they are much, much simpler and consist of only three ingredients: 1.pre-made pizza dough, 2. cranberry apple jelly or preserves, and 3. just a wee bit of butter. While they are baking, your house will smell like a delicious pie.




I got the idea for these CranApple Dos-i-do's after visiting Trader Joe's  and seeing that they were sampling different jellies from their sweet selections.

Since it is fall, I chose the CranApple Butter to make these dos-i-do's and boy, oh boy! Is it yummy! I'm so glad I have leftovers to spread on toast, biscuits, crackers, pretzels, you name it.
I purchased the pizza dough pre-made at Trader Joe's, but I know many other stores offer it as well. Heck, if you want to be healthy, you can even grab pre-made whole wheat pizza dough. But I chose the white, soft dough for these little treats.

Firstly, you will want to flour your work-surface. 




After making sure your surface is nice and flour-dy, you will want to pinch off the pizza dough into two-inch doughballs. Roll the doughballs in the flour, and flatten each ball into a small disc. 

Next, you will spread each dough disc with a little bit of butter and place a dab of jelly in the middle of each disc. 




Next, fold the discs in half, making sure to tuck the jelly goodness inside of each little pocket. 

Press the edges together with the tip of a fork to seal the CranApple butter inside. 
 



 Place the dos-i-do's on a baking sheet and pop them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 12-14 minutes. (depending on the size of your pockets).




When they are golden brown, take them out of the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes. Resist the urge to take a bite as soon as they are out of the oven. I may or may not have burned my tongue. Oh yes I did. Worth it. 

While waiting, you can use this time to clean up the big flour-y mess you made...

oops.
Worth it. 

Now dos-i-do on over to the kitchen and bake these up!



CranApple Dos-i-do's

Ingredients

-Premade, Prebaked pizza dough
-CranApple Butter/Jelly/Preserves
-A little butter for spreading on the dough

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and flour your baking surface
2. Pinch pizza dough into 2-inch dough balls
3. Roll dough balls onto the flour surface, press flat into discs. 
4. Smear a little butter on top of each dough disc
5. Place a dab of jelly into the middle of each
6. Fold each disc in half and press the ends together to seal the jelly inside.
7. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until your dos-i-do's are golden brown. 
8. Dos-i-do and grab another!
